Investors favour commodities over blue chips

Commodities and resources have overtaken blue chips as investors' favoured sectors for the first time in over seven years, said the Association of Investment Companies.

According to the group’s latest bi-annual Investor Confidence survey, 24% of active investors say the commodities sector is the most attractive, followed by blue chips, with 23% of the vote. This is the first time since the survey’s inception in January 2003 investors have not voted blue chips their favourite sector. At the geographic level, the UK remains the preferred region, with 64% of active investors mainly investing here.
