UBS to launch EM Equity Income fund

UBS is launching an Emerging Market Equity Income fund for Urs Antonioli.

The fund, which is set to launch at the end of January, will aim to generate income and achieve some long-term capital appreciation through a portfolio of GEM equities. Antonioli, who manages the £675m UBS Global Emerging Markets Equity fund, will use a screening process to identify high-yielding stocks, factoring in current and forecast dividends. The team will remove stocks it deems to be overvalued and apply a qualitative screen to exclude companies it believes have unsustainable dividends or weak fundamentals.
