Neptune's Alexander overhauls UK Equity fund

Neptune's Ted Alexander has turned over almost 100% of his UK Equity fund since taking over the mandate three months ago.

Alexander took the mantle from Jeremy Smith on 1 October and has since turned over 93% of the £46m fund. The new manager largely attributes the fund’s remodelling to the Neptune process, which means every stock held in the fund must have a buy/hold recommendation from the group’s in-house analysts. “We approached the fund with a clean slate,” Alexander said. “I met with the analysts, sector heads and economist to talk about the macro view and then to re-evaluate our sector and stock positions.” Alexander has been building up sector weightings in materials and utilities and reducing...
