GLG hires co-manager for Harker on Japan funds

GLG has hired Jeffery Atherton as co-manager for the £1.1bn Japan CoreAlpha and £490m Japan CoreAlpha Equity funds, to work with Stephen Harker and Neil Edwards.

Atherton joins from Stratton Street Capital LLP where he was a partner and co-manager of Japanese equity strategies. He has over 20 years experience managing Japanese funds working for companies including Insight Investment, SGAM, TCW and Equitable Life. Although he will be named co-manager on the funds, he will report to head of Japanese equities, Harker. Other members of the team include co-manager Edwards and team consultant Robert Brooke.
