Oz bank chief McFarlane to join Aviva as chairman - papers

John McFarlane, former chief executive of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), is to become the new chairman of Aviva.

His appointment, subject to FSA approval, will end a 10-month search to replace Lord Sharman, the Sunday Telegraph reports. The paper understands McFarlane has been approved by the board's appointments committee and the board. It is thought once FSA approval is received, the company will formally announce McFarlane is to join the board as a non-executive director with immediate effect.
