Osborne paves the way for more QE

Chancellor George Osborne has said there are no barriers to the UK launching more quantitative easing amid growing fears over the health of the UK economy, the Financial Times reports.

Speaking yesterday in Marseilles, Osborne said all the tools available to his predecessor, Alistair Darling, are still available and could be used if necessary. Osborne said: "I have made it clear the administrative arrangments that were established by my predecessor Alistair Darling for the operation of quantiative easing remain in place, so I do not have to get into a discussion of how I would handle a request from the MPC."
