Govt rejects Arch Cru inquiry as Aldous faces MPs

The government has once again rejected a call to arrange an independent inquiry into the collapse of the Arch Cru funds.

A question tabled by Labour MP Jim Cunningham asked if the Chancellor would give consideration to holding an investigation under section 14 of the Financial Services Markets Act 2000. In response, on behalf of the Treasury, financial secretary Mark Hoban referred the MP to a previous response from 6 February, when the government said it was "yet to be persuaded that an investigation is appropriate".
