Carlos Slim, the telecoms tycoon, has trumped Bill Gates and Warren Buffett in the first ever daily rich list index from Bloomberg.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranks the top 20 wealthiest individuals on the planet, updating their wealth on a daily basis by taking into account market and economic changes. Each net worth figure is updated every business day at 5:30 p.m. in New York. The valuations are listed in U.S. dollars. Top of the inaugural list is Mexican Slim, with a fortune of $68.5bn. In the index's first day of trading Slim's wealth dived $478m according to Bloomberg, but he still retains pole position.
