Fund flows: Ten winners from the first six months of 2012

Fixed income strategies continue to be the most desired asset class in the first six months of the year, with M&G topping the inflow charts.

Four of the top ten most popular funds since the turn of the year, in terms of gross new business, come from M&G's stable, according to data from FE. Richard Woolnough's £7.7bn M&G Optimal Income has proven the most popular, taking in £1.8bn on new business from January 1 to June 28. Given Woolnough's impressive long term track record in mitigating volatility through investing across the fixed income spectrum, it is perhaps not surprising intermediaries have been upping their positions in the fund.
