McLean set for payday as M&A target Cove draws final bids

SVM's Colin McLean is poised to sell out of the largest and most profitable holding in his £43m UK Growth fund after a drawn out battle by bidders.

Cove Energy has been the subject of a five-month bidding war from oil majors keen to snap up its huge East African gas find. The Takeover Panel tasked with administering the East African oil & gas Cove Energy takeover auction has told Royal Dutch Shell and Thai state owned oil and gas company PTT to submit their final offers for the company tonight. The intervention came a day after Shell extended its £1.12bn offer for Cove Energy for a third time. As a result, today PTT moved to extend its £1.22bn offer, which values the company at 240p per share, and was set to expire on Friday. ...
