Threadneedle's Brazier: This is a beautiful time for active managers

Active managers who use short-term volatility to back their convictions are better placed than ever to prove their worth, according to Simon Brazier, head of UK equities at Threadneedle.

Brazier (pictured) believes the past three to five years, characterised by many as a period of high volatility, have been "the most beautiful time for active managers", and predicted more of the same for the next half-decade. The manager of Threadneedle's £1.1bn UK fund said the strategy of using short-term volatility to exploit long-term value will remain invaluable over that period and suggested investor mindsets have been skewed by the experience of the 1980s and 90s.
