Fidelity plans Asian Income launch in 2013

Fidelity Worldwide Investment is planning to launch an Asian Dividend fund as it moves to compete with rivals such as Newton in this increasingly popular space.

Although not a traditional area from which to generate an income, Asian-listed companies are becoming more and more focused on dividends, prompting a number of other groups to launch similar vehicles recently. Investment Week understands Fidelity plans to launch an Asian income fund in the new year, and is currently running a pilot version. Fidelity already has a strong Asian franchise, with key managers including Anthony Bolton, Raymond Ma and Allan Liu.
