Allianz unveils double European fund launch

Allianz Global Investors has added German equity and European fixed income funds to its Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV range.

The Allianz German Equity fund, to be run by Matthias Born, is slated for launch on 22 October. It will be a high conviction product, predominantly invested in large caps with a maximum of 20% in small and mid caps. The fund’s investment philosophy will be the same as that of the €2bn Allianz Concentra fund, which Born has managed since 2007. Germany is seen as a safe haven within the troubled eurozone bloc, and its main stock market, the DAX, has risen 21% over the past year, compared to an 8% rise in the FTSE 100 and a 6.6% gain for the French Cac 40.
