Wall Street bounces back after two-day lockdown

Wall Street bounced back shortly after open today following a two day lock-down forced by extreme weather conditions in New York City.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.55% shortly after the bell rang, rising to 13,179 points, while the S&P 500 gained 0.41% to 1,417. The Nasdaq Composite, however, sold off by 0.5% to 2,984 shortly after open. New York City has been effectively shut down over the past two days, prompted by a damaging storm in the north-east of the US, known as Hurricane Sandy.
