Barclays hires ex-iShares chief for asset management shake-up

Barclays has appointed Rory Tobin, former head of iShares International, to work on reviewing the group's asset management arm.

Tobin, who ran the iShares business outside North America, will work with David Semaya, who was recently appointed to evaluate the existing asset management business and decide on whether to merge, maintain or close areas of the business. Tobin and Semaya, the former head of wealth management for UK and Ireland at Barclays, are to review the asset management arm's legacy business, according to a spokesperson for Barclays. Tobin joined Barclays Global Investors in 2004, but left iShares in 2010 after the firm was acquired by BlackRock.
