Specialist fund group Ocean Dial Asset Management has launched the Gateway to India fund, which is a 30-35 stock portfolio focused on domestic growth companies.
The Dublin-listed, open-ended fund is run by Mumbai-based David Cornell and was seeded in September 2010 with $15m by Ocean Dial's parent, Caledonia Investments. Among the major themes being played by the fund are the shift by consumers from unbranded to branded products, the cultural focus on education and growth in mortgage credit. Cornell said the UCITS IV fund will be fully invested: "India can change very quickly, as we saw with a 20% move upwards in January.
