UK bond investors should be wary of rising inflation and consider diversifying to other markets, according to PIMCO fixed income MD Mike Amey.
The PIMCO GIS UK Sterling Long Average Duration fund was launched in 2004, but was only made available to UK investors in the IMA Strategic Bond sector last November, along with 22 other PIMCO funds that were listed across a number of sectors. Mike Amey, who is a managing director at PIMCO responsible for sterling portfolios, has been running the £237m fund for almost four years. Over three years, the fund has returned 46.6% against the IMA Strategic Bond peer group average of 27% according to Morningstar, making it the top performing fund in the sector.
