Hargreave hires Walton for small-cap funds

Former Baillie Gifford European small-cap manager David Walton has joined Hargreave Hale to assist Giles Hargreave across his Marlborough small-cap unit trusts and the firm's VCT products.

The manager has joined Hargreave from micro-cap specialist Nettle Capital Management. He previously worked at Baillie Gifford for almost a decade, from September 2000 to 2009, running a European Smaller Companies fund and other institutional mandates. Shortly after Walton left, Baillie Gifford converted the fund into a global mandate. Earlier in his career, Walton worked at M&G, heading up the firm’s European fund.
