AXA Investment Managers' head of emerging market equities, Julian Thompson, has named Mexico as his top pick from among the EM countries in his investment universe.
The manager of the AXA Framlington Emerging Markets fund, who previously ran EM portfolios for Threadneedle, said Mexico will be a market to watch in future. The country makes up 8% of his £160m fund, as the manager said it has an attractive growth profile. He suggested Mexico’s growth rate could hit 5% within the next three years – “Mexico is an example of what can be done when you tackle inefficiencies in an economy,” Thompson said.
