Barclays to close underperforming Radar funds

Barclays Capital is to close both the onshore and offshore versions of its Radar fund after failing to attract sufficient investor demand, Investment Week understands.

The group launched the Irish-domiciled Radar fund, an absolute return-style fund targeting positive returns in all market conditions, in February 2009. Last year the group launched an onshore version of the strategy, which was designed to reflect the highest conviction views of the group's Fund Solutions research team. The strategy was originally headed up by Tim Bond, who left to join Odey Asset Management in October 2010. It will close at the start of next month.
