With interest rates in the UK at a historic low, investors have been looking for income strategies to boost the yields of their portfolios.

Panellists at a recent roundtable event hosted by Legg Mason have identified four assets classes that are the most likely to deliver income in the next five years. Legg Mason's recent Global Income Survey showed over 60% of UK investors' top priority is generating income, while nearly half said their focus on income generating products has increased compared to five years ago. Investors have been diversifying away from traditional UK income products into other global markets and multi-cap funds.
