Henderson retail fixed income head John Pattullo is favouring core companies in core countries across Europe to provide thematic bond investing in a low inflation environment, alongside opportunities in the US.
Pattullo and team believe the outlook for many European countries remains "anaemic" despite recent economic improvements, necessitating a selective geographic approach. "Peripheral European countries such as Greece, Spain and Portugal continue to be dogged by a variety of factors including vast debt piles and little to no sign of growth," Pattullo said.
