Threadneedle has made five hires to its Asian equities team as it expands its on-the-ground presence in the region.
The group has hired Nikko Asset Management CIO Soo Nam Ng as head of Asian equities (Asia), as well as Nikko colleagues Christine Seng, Weixiong Liang and Wee Jia Low. Bernard Lim is also joining the team from Fullerton Fund Management, having previously worked with Ng at Mirae Asset Global Investment Management. The hires will work closely with Threadneedle's existing seven-strong Asian equities team, headed by Vanessa Donegan, which manages £3.6bn in London and Singapore.
