GLG performance bolsters Man but AHL problems continue

Alternative investment boutique Man Group has seen net inflows of $700m in Q3 as positive performance from GLG offset problems with its flagship strategy.

The struggling performance of the group's flagship AHL 'black box' strategy again weighed on Man's figures in Q3: AHL Diversified was down 6.6% over the quarter, leading to a net investment loss of $500m in Man's quant strategies unit. AHL also saw net outflows of $500m on the quarter; while Man's fund of funds business suffered net outflows of $1bn over the period. GLG, however, posted positive flows of $1.9bn in that time.
