Baring Asset Management has hired former Martin Currie director Duncan Goodwin to head its global resources team.
Goodwin, who has run a series of resources funds at Martin Currie since 2005, will join Barings in January, taking over the group's Global Resources fund. In his former role, Goodwin was head of global resources, in charge of the £86m Martin Currie Global Resources fund. Goodwin replaces Jonathan Blake, who left Barings at the end of the month. The £344 Baring Global Resources fund posted a 6.85% loss over the past 12 months, underperforming the benchmark MSCI World Energy/Materials composite index, which returned 11.18% over the same period.
