Asian stock markets swung between losses and gains overnight after a slowdown in Chinese trade data.
The rate of Chinese export growth fell to 4.3% last month, below the consensus forecast of 5% and the previous month's figure of 12.7%. The data spooked some Asian markets, with the Shanghai composite index and the South Korean Kospi index both off 0.6%. The Nikkei also fell 0.4% in initial trading before recovering to trade marginally down at 0.1%. Elsewhere, Taiwan's index rose 0.2%, while the Indian Sensex was up 0.5%.
