Financial research group Defaqto has appointed former adviser network director Frank Potaczek to head up its insight and consulting wing.

Potaczek, previously Intrinsic’s investment director, will lead the team responsible for fund management-related ratings, publications and consultancy services.

Defaqto chief executive Zahid Bilgrami said: “Frank brings with him a detailed understanding of both the fund universe and the adviser space.

“We created this new role because we are placing even greater onus on the fund-related services we offer, in order to meet the growing requirements in this area among both advisers and fund managers.”

As well as working at Intrinsic, Potaczek has previously held senior roles across the asset management world, including at Close Brothers, Legal & General and Threadneedle.

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds an Investment Management Certificate.
