Goldman Sachs Asset Management has launched a global income fund with the ability to invest in non-traditional asset classes.
The Goldman Sachs Global Income Builder Portfolio is domiciled in Luxembourg and is a sub-fund of Goldman Sachs Funds SICAV. It will be managed by the 300-strong GSAM Global Fixed Income and Fundamental Equity investment teams.
GSAM EMEA third party distribution head Nick Phillips said the fund aims to access income opportunities through a broad set of asset classes: "While the fund is focused on high-quality stocks and higher-yielding bonds in industries that may be less susceptible to market cycles, its flexible mandate allows it to invest in non-traditional asset classes, including convertible bonds, bank loans, preferreds, REITs and energy infrastructure stocks."
Fixed income securities make up 60% of the fund, while 40% will be equity securities, although the managers have the flexibility to tilt allocation above or below the baseline.
The fund is available in several currency share classes, with a minimum investment of $5,000.
