Standard Life Investments' small cap manager Ken Nicholson has left the firm after fifteen years.
Nicholson ran the SLI European Smaller Companies fund as part of the firm's top-performing smaller companies range, headed by Harry Nimmo (pictured). However, the takeover of competitor Ignis has raised questions about the future of many funds, with the combined groups offering many duplicate portfolios. Last month, fund buyers highlighted Nicholson's fund as a candidate for a merger after SLI acquired Ignis via the £390m deal.
