Unicorn Asset Management is looking to strengthen its core UK equity offering by renaming one fund, preparing a new launch for John McClure and hiring two new team members.
The group plans to rename its top-performing Unicorn Free Spirit fund in order to better reflect its investment process, ahead of the potential launch of a special situations fund for McClure (pictured). That follows sizeable inflows into McClure’s UK Income fund over recent months. At £647m in size, the fund is now approaching capacity, but Free Spirit remains small at just £30m. The group is now looking to change the name of the latter fund to Unicorn UK Growth in an effort to more accurately reflect its investment process.
