Kames CIO: UK growth 'now comparable to emerging markets'

Stephen Jones, chief investment officer of Kames Capital, has said the UK's improving GDP figures mean it is now rivalling some emerging markets in the growth stakes.

"You have to go deep into emerging markets to find the kind of growth numbers that are comparable to those that can be expected from the UK," Jones (pictured) said. "The housing market strength is apparent and employment growth has been impressive." The International Monetary Fund (IMF) earlier this month upgraded its forecast for the UK, predicting it will be the strongest growing G7 economy this year, with 2013 growth estimated at 2.9%.
