RBS warns independence would 'significantly' impact business

The Royal Bank of Scotland said today its costs would be "significantly" impacted if an upcoming vote on Scottish independence sees the region break away from the rest of the UK.

The bank - which released its half year results last week - added any break-away could have a material impact on its business. In its latest update it said a yes vote "could significantly impact the group's costs and would have a material adverse effect on the group's business, financial condition, results of operations and prospects". The bank - which is headquartered in Scotland - has already said it is considering its options regarding the independence vote.
