First State Stewart manager Glen Finegan is to leave the firm at the end of his sabbatical, rather than return to manage money, Investment Week can reveal.
Finegan - co-manager on a number of mandates including the popular Global Emerging Markets fund - went on sabbatical last November, and was scheduled to return a year later. As well as running the £766m GEM fund with Jonathan Asante (pictured), he also co-managed the £15m Worldwide Equity fund. His work on the funds has been taken over by Tom Prew and Stuart Paul respectively. In the last year the flagship GEM fund has returned 10.9% over the year to 28 August according to FE versus a sector average of 14.6%.
