Ex-New Star manager Roantree joins AXA IM

AXA Investment Managers has hired former J.P. Morgan AM manager Bill Healey and former New Star manager Phil Roantree to boost its fixed income team.

Healey, formerly head of European high yield at JPMAM, joins as global head of Smartbeta and UK head of buy & maintain, while Roantree joins as a senior portfolio manager in the fixed income team. Healey previously co-founded and managed his own credit hedge fund firm, Picus Capital Management, while Roantree is best-known for his time spent running the New Star Sterling Bond fund. Roantree subsequently became a partner and CIO at Querns Asset Management from 2009 to 2012, before joining Morningstar just six months ago in March of this year.
