Julie Dean, lead manager on the Schroders UK Opportunities fund, is leaving the company and handing over her fund to Matt Hudson.
Highly-rated Dean joined Schroders as part of the takeover of Cazenove Capital last July; in her previous role, she managed the Cazenove UK Equity and UK Dynamic funds, as well as the UK Equity Absolute Return fund. Since moving over to Schroders, she has been lead manager on the UK Opportunities fund and the UK Growth trust, which have both underperformed over one year to 5 September. The £2.1bn Opportunities fund is down 0.7% versus an average return of 8.7% from the UK All Companies sector, while the trust is down 1.5% versus the All Companies trust sector return of 9.4%.
