The Prime Minister is under pressure from senior MPs to call on the Queen to speak out against Scottish independence, as fears over a 'yes' vote grow.

The latest YouGov and TNS polls have revealed the split between the 'yes' and 'no' campaigns is much closer than previously thought, with 41% of voters supporting each side instead of the 40%-60% split previously estimated. The market, which has brushed off the looming referendum so far, has finally started to react, with sterling falling 1.3% against the US dollar on Monday, while shares have also retreated.
