Giles Hargreave has been ranked number one in a report by Tilney Bestinvest looking to identify the top 100 equity fund managers in the UK.
The research rates UK fund managers on their performance versus the benchmark, their consistency, and their experience. The firm's findings place small-cap investor Hargreave (pictured), chairman of Hargreave Hale, in the top spot. He has been working in the financial sector since 1969 and has managed the Marlborough Special Situations fund for 16 years. The report praises his performance as "highly successful and consistent" and calculates he has beaten his benchmark for 61% of the months in which he has run money.
