Old Mutual Global Investors has appointed former Ignis manager Allan MacLeod as head of international distribution.

In his newly-created role, MacLeod will be tasked with expanding OMGI’s presence among global financial institutions and internationally. He will report to head of global distribution Warren Tonkinson.

MacLeod joined Ignis in 2012 with responsibility for developing Ignis' institutional business outside the UK. Previously, he spent 21 years at Martin Currie, where he set up and ran the hedge fund business.

Tonkinson said: “MacLeod will now play a leading role in helping us expand our share of the global financial institutions sector, as well as helping us to achieve our goal of expanding into selected markets to support its global client base, through asset management and distribution capabilities based in our chosen international markets.”

His move to OMGI follows that of Ignis bond manager Russ Oxley and a number of other bond managers from the firm, which has been acquired by Standard Life Investments.
