China stocks rally after launch date set for HK-Shanghai tie-up

Stocks in Shanghai and Hong Kong have rallied after authorities confirmed the trading link between the two cities' exchanges is to open next week.

The Hong Kong-Shanghai Stock Connect will open on 17 November and allow international investors greater access to Shanghai stocks and mainland investors access to shares in Hong Kong. Currently, institutional investors into mainland markets need to be individually approved for trading by the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors scheme.   Asian shares jumped in response to the news this morning.
