Old Mutual Global Investors has hired former Ignis manager Diamond Lee to boost its Asian equities team.

Lee, who will report to Josh Crabb, will operate out of Hong Kong once regulatory approvals have been acquired. He will be responsible for supporting the Asian equities team in selecting Chinese stocks.

He previously managed funds including the Ignis Pacific Growth and Ignis China portfolios.

Crabb said: “Diamond is an incredibly talented portfolio manager with an excellent track record. He is a leading specialist in Chinese equities and his knowledge will help to diversify the skill set within our team."

The hire follows OMGI's appointment of former BlackRock manager Crabb and an accompanying Asian equities team in September this year.

Speaking to Investment Week, OMGI chief executive Julian Ide said firming up the base in Hong Kong opens up "a huge range" of possibilities, with a number of further hires likely.
