SME lender plans alternative finance trust launch

GLI Finance is considering the launch of a trust investing in a portfolio of loans with a "high single digit" yield target.

In a stock exchange announcement today, GLI said it is seeking to convert its own structure from a closed-ended fund into a trading business, as well as separately seeking to launch an independent investment company. GLI provides finance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by investing in loans to these businesses as well as originating finance itself via peer-to-peer lenders and other platforms.
