Woodford: UK stocks face 'years of turmoil'

Neil Woodford has said next month's general election could mark the beginning of years of uncertainty for UK investors.

The head of investment at Woodford Investment Management said the 7 May polls are a different prospect for investors used to general elections that are “pretty unimportant” for markets. Woodford has long been bearish on the UK economy, and has previously warned of the uncertainty being created by UK political risk, but appeared to go a step further in an interview with the Telegraph this weekend. “I think now we are in a slightly different place [from previous elections], given the political uncertainty and given the influence that fringe parties are going to have,” he said.
