'Pidcock must prove himself outside team structure': Buyers react to exit

Fund buyers are debating whether to sell out of the £4.4bn Newton Asian Income fund following the departure of Jason Pidcock, while asking if he can replicate his success at Jupiter.

Pidcock (pictured) has managed the Newton fund since launch in 2005, and developed a strong following during the period; his fund dwarfing peers in this growing asset class. He is moving to Jupiter later this year to set up a new Asian Income strategy, with his flagship fund at Newton moving to a team-based approach, overseen by investment manager Rob Marshall-Lee. Despite a weaker period of performance in recent years, over longer time frames Pidcock has provided strong returns for investors.
