UK small cap trusts surge as election fears subside

UK Smaller Companies trusts were among the best performers last month, after the political uncertainty of the general election subsided.

The sector performed particularly strongly in terms of both price and net asset value (NAV), according to figures from QuotedData. It follows a month in which the FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and FTSE All Share all surged as the UK general election result proved be surprisingly decisive. The top ten trusts by price growth in May include Invesco Perpetual UK Smaller Companies, Acorn Income, Henderson Smaller Companies, Blackrock Throgmorton, Schroder UK Mid Cap, Strategic Equity Capital and BlackRock Smaller Companies.
