Pioneer Investments has launched an emerging markets bond short-term strategy in response to investors' need for better protection from rising interest rates.
The strategy will be managed by the group's emerging market fixed income team, under the direction of lead manager Yerlan Syzdykov (pictured), who has managed EMD portfolios at Pioneer since 2000. The group said rising interest rate expectations and a steepening yield curve mean investors are increasingly looking towards asset classes that were less sensitive to a rates, including emerging markets bonds with shorter duration.
