BlackRock hires pensions freedom 'architect'

Rupert Harrison, former chief of staff to Chancellor George Osborne, is joining BlackRock to help develop its retirement proposition.

The 36-year-old will be chief macro-strategist for funds investing in equities, bonds and cash, according to a report in the Financial Times. His appointment was signed off by the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments, on the basis Harrison does not lobby the government for two years. Harrison played an influential role in the introduction of the most radical shake-up of pensions in decades.
