Newton CIO Pryke departs after 19 years

Newton's chief investment officer Simon Pryke is leaving the firm after almost 20 years to pursue more commercial roles.

The firm's parent company BNY Mellon said Pryke (pictured), who did not directly run any assets, will take some time off before pursuing other opportunities. Newton will not appoint a direct replacement for Pryke in the CIO role. Charles French, head of Newton's financials and consumer research team who has been with the group for 15 years, has since been promoted to head of investment. French will report to CEO Helena Morrissey, who will now become more involved with the day-to-day running of the investment team.
