Man GLG's new emerging equity managers Edward Cole and Simon Pickard have been adding to their position in Chinese A-shares throughout the recent market weakness, saying it is a ripe hunting ground as investors have become too focused on a hard landing.
The managers, who joined Man GLG in the summer, run the newly-launched £13.8m Unconstrained Emerging Equity strategy after managing a similar vehicle at their former employer Carmignac. The pair said they have been able to add to Chinese A-shares as investors become "extremely bearish" on China, bringing the fund's weighting in this area up to 13%.
