Alliance Trust chair Forseke to step down as overhaul continues

Karin Forseke is to leave her role as chair of the £2.8bn Alliance Trust on 1 January 2016, as the company begins searching for an external candidate to fill the position.

The move comes as the company implements "the biggest changes in the trust's history", following a public debate over its future with shareholder and activist investor Elliott Advisors.  Has the Alliance board done enough to avoid another attack? These include a radical shake-up of the trust's board, which will become "fully independent, comprising solely non-executive directors".
