Fundraising for the investment company sector was up 56% compared to previous highs this year, with a strong showing from both IPOs and the secondary market, according to the Association of Investment Companies (AIC).
Net fundraising for the year was £5.24bn; 56% higher than the previous record of £3.36bn in 2007. A total of £2.67bn was raised from IPOs, while another record high of £4.81bn was reached on the secondary market. The previous record was £3.85bn in 2013. Industry assets peaked at their highest figure ever in May, at £137bn, before settling at £133.6bn as at 30 November.
